It's not an extreme environment, life in general can withstand any pressure because it's all about pressure balance. We could live down there if the pressure of the gases inside us were balanced, and maybe with a few other changes. The most extreme thing about that environment is the lack of light, but the constant fall of detritus makes for an easy solution.
Those conditions are extreme for us,but not for them,our living condition would be extreme for them,because they couldn't swin n low pressure water
