Rishi Sunak would not commit to ramp up defence spending ahead of the next general election, as Tory MPs pressured him to invest more amid increasing global threats.
Sir Julian Lewis, who chairs Parliament’s intelligence and security committee, was among the backbench Conservatives urging the Prime Minister to increase the UK’s defence spending commitment to 2.5% of gross domestic product (GDP)
Mr Sunak said the Government would meet the target “when circumstances allow”, and suggested it would set out a roadmap to the commitment as part of the next spending review in 2025, now likely to fall after a general election.

Maybe one has to ask the honest question, why did Russia invade Ukraine. Why did Ukraine tear up the UN backed Minsk Peace Agreement, Why did US and UK prevent Zelensky from making a peace agreement with Russia 2 months after the war started? Why is NATO pushing up hard onto the borders of Russia and why s the US and EU calling for regime change in Russia? Europe is going bankrupt, supporting and flinging arms and money at a corrupt, dictatorship in Ukraine, and lying to the European and British people on how this war started. One also has to ask why Ukraine has been bombing and attacking the millions of ethnic Russians who live in Eastern Ukraine and why the West and Western media turned a blind eye to all of this? One also has to ask why Ukraine defaulted on the billions of Euros that it owed to Europe and the IMF, even before the war started, and why the West believes that Ukraine will ever pay back the Billions of aid it has received since the war, when it has no money to pay it back. These are honest questions that many media and politicians refuse to ask, or supply answers to, on their lunatic decisions to take us all towards a nuclear conflict with Russia. And let me tell you that If attacked by NATO, Russia has clearly stated( and not just by Putin), that it will very quickly go nuclear as Russia will defend itself violently and aggressively.
