  1. I can remember seeing Das Boot on TV back in the 80's and never saw the entire thing. then I saw it was coming on and watched it in Germany with my GF at the time in German. That was when she realized just how well I understood German. What about the guys that watch Grayhound on a loop, the bastards!

  2. It's definitely worse. Subs are much harder to hit and when you do hit them, you do less damage. I wasn't able to sink a T7 sub with four direct depth charge hits and that's after he avoided most of my launches. Subs must be laughing at WG. It's way worse.

  3. The thing that I do not get is that people are screaming about the 2 km auto spot where in real life there were multiple cases of subs getting a couple hundred yards of a ship and not being seen.

  4. It's almost impossible to spot the sub after being pinged now. Unless of course you ignore all the surface ships around you and concentrate on subs only.

  5. War gamming does this all the time. Fake improvements. I don't respect sub players nor do I support any flank with one on it.

  6. 3 plus years of harm to the game and they still haven't figured out what needs to be done for PROPER balance.
    So they give them sonar that can see thru islands (yes, I know surface radar does too and should be fixed)
    I noticed that the new Cruiser sonar version extends to 7km while the still available normal sonar only goes to 5km.
    Why?
    I have 3 subs rusting in my port (I-56, Undine & Alliance), I have never and will NEVER take them out.
    Subs are just aggrevating buckets of BS gimmicks.

  7. I had a Venezia game two nights ago. The sub tried to shot gun me and I ran the surveillance thing… some shots from the DD, a couple of mine and 2 ASW drops and the sub was sent to port in less than 10 seconds… just and absolutely lovely!

  8. Subs are so soft and easy to kill…honestly at best they are annoying to deal with rarely do i come across a game where they make any significant impact on the game.

  9. I like how they gave submarine detection to two nations that historically has pretty poor submarine detection capabilities. And then put them on second-line ships.

    I love it. At this point 3 years of gelling Wargaming they were insane for trying to shoehorn submarines into a fleet combat game is completely vindicated. They have no idea what they're doing anymore.

  11. So basically they've made it so we have to concentrate a hell of a lot more more time on subs than surface ships thanks a lot WG.

  12. The reason I stopped playing all of the Wargaming World of games is because they can't admit when someone is broken and remove it until it can be fixed properly. I closed beta tested WoT and originally spotting wasn't bad but it wasn't good either, then they "Fixed" it. Here we are 13 years later after that fix and it's still very very broken. Artillery was introduced and came out very broken. They couldn't even admit Warpack existed for nearly two years and punished anyone who brought it up in the forums.

    So far they are not the worst publisher out there, but they are not in the good half either.

  13. I had three or four 6 sub games yesterday. Made me want to quit the game. I know I’m not alone feeling that subs have taken over and removed the fun.

  14. Every single video and live stream on submarines just reinforces the point that they don't fit into WoWS in any conceivable way.

  15. It takes what? Four direct depth charge strikes to kill a T8+ sub under the old meta? Now, how many friggin hits does it take? 7? 10? And, good luck getting more strikes now with the ability for subs to act like a hummingbird with their new dodge ability.

  16. The problem is WG is afraid to take the steps necessary to nerf subs. They make changes but then offset those changes with others nerfs and buffs. That doesn’t help with decreasing the power of submarines. It’s like WG wants everyone to drive the same ship. Boring.

  18. Also, they kind of indirectly buffed subs by making hydrophone last 1 second vs 15 seconds. All the captain skills that activate with hydrophone now come online 15 seconds faster.

  19. STOP IT PLEASE! subs are definitly NOT op, they can literally die in 5 sec if played poorly, stop complaining about them and learn to play agaisnt them

  20. Subs at periscope depth travelling at surface speed has some historical precedent — snorkles would allow subs to use their air-breathing diesel engines and thus go much faster. Doing so, however, caused the snorkle to leave a much larger wake. WG could have the periscoping sub have a longer detection range, perhaps based on its speed.

    I don't actually find this the biggest issue though. Getting shotgunned in my face as I race in with my DD to attack the sub is MUCH worse. Or getting jumped in a BB, broadside to a sub 2km away when you had no idea it was there. These are much more problematic as there is no warning and no counter. Subs should have a minimum arming distance on their torpedoes of at least 3km. The sub's improved turn rate has made this WORSE because now they can get their tubes pointed at you much more quickly.

  21. I've been playing subs for a week or two now and have gotten really good at them(ish) 40-90k per game. I think asw aircraft for bbs should be at least the average torpedo range for subs at their tier. I often ping bbs with torps on the way knowing that even if they drop on me they don't have the range to hit me.

  22. My 2 cents: WOWS got submarines completely wrong from the start. My fix: Submerged top speed 10 kts. And enhanced stealth/less detectability. Also reduced Torpedo explosive power. Historically, pre nuclear era submarines (diesel boats) were effective vs merchant shipping but with a few exceptions ineffective vs combatant ships. The + for submariners…… less detectability. The "-" if you are found, goodbye. No scurrying away at 20 knots at 200 feet.
