  2. the "walking into the door" blunder is the 2nd most common door blunder after the "push/pull the opposite door" blunder

  3. Magnus bong cloud draw was cheeky but demonstrably NOT pre-arranged. Magnus played it out if the blue. It was quite a surprise to Hikaru. That's why Hikaru lost it laughing. This was all on stream. Hikaru recognized Magnus' joke and took it as a meme draw offer and copied the moves. Pre-arranged? It was ONLINE. How the hell do you think it was arranged? You think when it became apparent the game would be meaningless they talked on the phone or texted ir emailed before the game? Really? You think that? They were under tournament cheating rules — no phones, no contact. And Hikaru was streaming. No evidence of any communucation between them. And they are not even chummy in that way. So why claim it was pre-arranged? The Nepo draw, on the other hand, was planned on the broadcast. The two guys were in hysterics talking at length at the board before the game. The broadcast actually focused on it because they were cracking up so much.

  4. Honestly I blame fide for the whole situation. If many top players resort to quick draws in a world championship because they're exhausted after 12 blitz games in a row, maybe the format is flawed. Also, what's the difference between this draw and that 2 moves one in the rapid event? That also looks pretty pre-arranged to me

  5. I don't see how the knight dance is different from the queen dance of the Berlin draw, in either case both player agree to draw from the opening. Plus we had some very sus draws in the rapid event (after 3 moves in the women's section if I recall correctly)

  6. FIDE are inept and should've acted before now, specifically, that Tingjie/Bodnaruk draw. But I still think the double forfeit is the correct move. This draw is different because, a – it was so blatant, b – Dubov and Nepo looked like they were mocking FIDE and c – Dubov and Nepo are from the same Chess federation. Which makes this draw look like the players are working together for their own benefit i.e. match/tournament fixing. Really, I don't think FIDE had much choice but to act.

  7. I think its funny from dubov and Nepo I mean who is really mad at this or cares about if they make berlin draw or this

  8. If making draws is so bad, either make it explicitly against the rules or create a format that doesn't reward it. Punishing two players who are doing what everyone else is doing but in a more overt way just comes off as hypocritical. It's either a rule or it's not. It's not a real rule if you enforce it only when it's convenient.

  9. Do high level chess players suddenly not like playing chess?
Why are they even there if they dont want to play

  10. I'm sad about the forfeit because I find it actually pretty funny. At the same time the rule mentioned in the paper definitely should be in place, so I understand the decision.

  11. proper decision to punish the players. That's .5 points that neither of them had to earn. It makes the game look silly. For those saying that they thought it was funny…..exactly.

  12. That was the best draw ever. The pre-move Berlin draw is just the same thing (pre-arranged draw). There is 0 difference between this nice horse draw and the pre-arranged Berlin-draw. Both are just ways to get rid of the game and get a draw. Imo, just allow for players to shake hands before the first move if both wants a draw.

  13. U always gave Magnus props but bc your friendship with Hikaru u never kissed Magnus' ass TOO much…..well those days are over. You are in full Magnus fanboy mode since that interview.

  14. How anybody can prove that nepo and dubov arranged and agreed to play these moves for a draw? Is it any punishment for the 3 moves draw yesterday? No!
