  8. I’m Métis and I Love this show.. I’m a history fan and when I saw this show I decided to do some research myself and I can’t figure out why he was never mentioned in our history considering he was a key enemy of the crusaders.. the crusaders were the villain of the real story and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out lol, even though English history paints them as honourable and on some holy conquest. I do love how this show reveals a lot of the darker side of the crusades that English history tried to cover up.

  13. I'm an American. That said, I have to say that Dirilis Ertugral is one of the most incredible series I have ever watched. Ever. The actors are extremely talented and skilled. They've completely owned their roles, including the children. (The only criticism I have with this show is how the Crusaders and Templars cross themselves. The crossing is not correct and I've seen so many incorrect versions of the crossing that it became amusing.) I am well aware that while there has been much research that has gone into the creation of this series, I know there is much fiction thrown in for entertainment, such as the dialogue, the war and battle scenes, for example. But I have been so fascinated with the Muslim culture portrayed through this series and have learned so much about the culture during the era this show portrays, which I understand is based on fact. The religion is nothing at all like how the Christian religion portrays Islam today. I have a yearning to learn more about Islam because of how this series shows it as a compassionate, peace loving religion that embraces justice and equality amongst every people. Which is the exact opposite of how the Christian religion behaved then and often behaves today. There is a saying by Michael Sherlock, "Christianity did not become a major religion by the quality of its truth, but by the quantity of its violence." Yes, I am aware that there are bad actors who have given both Islam and Christianity bad raps by the way they treat people. But these bad actors are not following the true philosophy and faith of their respective religions. It was a breath of fresh air to see the true beauty of Islam by watching Dirilis Ertugral. I have ordered on Amazon "The Holy Qur'an by Abdullah Yusuf Ali" to further study Islam. I am almost finished watching this series and have already started grieving that it will end soon. Thank you to the producers, directors, writers, actors and actresses who made it possible to watch, enjoy, and learn.

  14. I understand. That’s why I’m watching all the episodes again. I will be sorry to see it go when it does. In my opinion, it’s better than Game of Thrones.

  15. I just discovered this series and as a Christian I love it. I got so tired of sex and violence and profanity from the Vikings series. This is a breath of fresh air. Im not a prude but the way the woman are respected by the men is nice. The crusaders are filthy money hungry marauders.
There is no love of God in their hearts.
Im going to try to finish all 5 seasons on Netflix with English subtitles.

  19. This serie is one of the best productions of the last 20 years. I have enjoyed the delivery of the historical content, compliments to M B. for creating this masterpiece. Thanks to E. seriousness and superb acting by portraying the main character as a humanitarian hero. Let's not forget Turgut's passionate acting. He was able to show his emotions and psycologic struggles realistically that I suffered for his suffering, and let's praise the mother, Halime and the veritable harmonious friendship of the alps; they all were magnificent. Even the evil characters got to be liked by the viewers because their exceptional performances. Bravo to the entire female cast for playing excellently such fantastic roles! The show is totally friendly. Excluding the final season which left me with a bitter taste; ( most episodes off rail and incongru ent) all the episodes were engaging.

  20. I have watched this series by accident and love it so much. Mostly because we, Muslims, are portrayed positively in this series. We got our own heroes who pray like us and value the same things. While other medieval series usually have some inappropriate things in them, this series is absolutely clean and the women often covered their hair as well with a modest clothing.

After this series, I watched many other Turkish historical series. Uyanis Buyuk Selcuklu definitely is the next one I recommend if you like this series. It is almost the same thing, but the setting is in the palace, not tribe. Other Turkish series I recommend are Payitaht Abdulhamid, Yunus Emre, Mavera, Filinta, Mendirman Jalaludin and Barbarosslar. Actually almost all Turkish historical series made by TRT post-Ertugrul are great. Uyanis is my favorite though.

Thank you to Turkey for keep making well-made historical series like this, though. Hopefully more series will come our way! 🙂
