  1. Dwarf models are still passable, but tomb king looks like crap…they are really really really old they have done a better job if they have released just a kit to convert the AOS one into tomb king

  2. me, its for me, when they killed off Fantasy and replaced it with AOS I just was not interested in the lore and it is the lore that makes me want to play the game, now old world is back I am interested again.

  3. That final look from Ciara was gold.
I am getting Bretonians to round out my existing collection, but no intention of playing ToW. I'll either base them for AoS and use them as Cities proxies or I will base them for KoW (that I originally got the Brets for).

  4. “That’s not even the only book you need”. Yeah, unlike every other GW game, where you need at least two and even more if there’s a supplement.

  5. A message to Ciara. Derek or whatever his name is, is a nice enough bloke, but let's face it, he's not going to set the world alight. H's a bit lacking in sparkle, a tad monochrome, bit stuck in the 1990s. Frankly I feellhe's holding you back, stifling your creativity, using you a stooge to show how wonderful he is. I have a suggestion – bear with me – you would be better with someone who is quirky, innovative, modern, plenty of experience and has a lovely accent. I suggest you ditch Derek and put a call in to Rogue Hobbies.

Just joking Derek, love your work. 😛

  6. For those not a fan of the old Dwarf sculpts, and you don't mind third party sculpts, consider looking into Oathmark models from North Star Military Figures. They've got a few different Dwarf plastic kits, for making different unit types + loadouts, along with a number of metal models to round out the army. (They've also got a bunch of other fantasy armies in this vein, like Elves, Orcs + Goblins, Humans, and Undead. You know, if any of those are more your speed. The company's Frostgrave line even has plastic kits + metal models for Gnolls and Snakemen, if you want some alternative styles of Beastmen.)

  7. I wonder if Ciara would like OPR Age of Fantasy Regiments more. The flow of that game is more dynamic and rules are pretty fast to get.

  8. Are you gonna do something Old World related with Zorpazorp? He teased something about Oldworld a while ago and if you both like it, it would be super fun to see you both at it

  9. "Maybe if they brought out the Elves. Unless they look like these with pointy hats."
    audible groan

I just couldn't help laughing at that. Yeah, I don't think Old World is going to appeal to her except on the individual model painting session.

A trick for cheap movement trays. Take the sprues. Take the box. Cut a section of box the size of the unit. Cut sprue bits to make corner points and frontages. Glue sprue to box. Cheap and easy.

  10. It's for all the nostalgia dudes like me with disposable incomes and/or old models lying around. And we're very happy about it. BUT there's no way a teenage newcomer has a chance to enter the hobby with the steep entry cost unless they buy secondhand or non-GW models.

  11. It is a strategic war game, unlike AoS or wh40k which are tactical wargames.
So flanks and facing mather, the square bases actualy serve a purpose other than a resting spot for the mini's tactical rock (boy do I hate that EVERY new model comes with it).
You need more mdels because unit size actualy mathers as well.
Making a mistake in movement can and will cost you dearly.
Yup, I loved it then, and I love it now!

Back to my beloved Tomb Kings.

  12. Khazuk Khazuk Khazuk-ha. She should play bretonnia the knights are old sure but you can paint them up to incredible detail and freehand beautiful heraldry and while the men at arms might be a lot no one says u need a ton of them if you focus on knights mostly the army can be quite small and the pegasus lord and the hero with banner is absolutely stunning

  13. Not sure if GW know who it is for. Kills off Fantasy, gave a bunch of reasons for why, none of which have changed. After the success of various PC games set in the Fantasy world, I guess they decided they needed to reinforce the IP with a rebirth. Then they go and set it in a different setting, no Skaven! In spite of this, GW manage to sell a bunch of old mini designs.

  14. As a new player, I've spent a good amount of money getting models together. But, on the whole, I've been super excited to be getting into the game! Colleccting and paint all my new models has been a lot of fun

  15. Definitely feel that having an army you are interested in helps. All my friends gush that AoS is a great game system and fun but I’m not interested in any of the armies so i have no desire to find out.

Fortunately they launched with Bretonnia in TOW and I’m all in on them xD

  16. I "think" I'm the target audience for this – I bought 4th ed. WFB in its current edition as a teen in the 90s. In this economy, I'm going to be mostly left out in the cold at this point. I have an established army in 40k and AoS (Ogors, go figure – let's be real, legacy rules aren't going to be worthwhile for long if at all). I sold my old dwarf army long ago, so at this point I'd be starting fresh.

Pricing these old models at modern prices sure is a choice, GW.

  17. Agreed with Kiera, you need a set of models to reel you in

I wasn't vibing with the Old World until I saw the Gnomes by Warp Miniatures

Now I'm running GNOMES!!! as Chaos Dwarfs

  18. Watching you guys play reminded me that when I started college back in 1998 I had a demo game of Warhammer Fantasy. I didn't like it.
It wasn't until 2015 with a demo of Age of Sigmar that I fell in love with Warhammer, and that opened the door to all sorts of Tabletop games for me.
