What Moves You Will Move the World | Jocko Willink | EP 420

World

Dr. Jordan B. Peterson sits down in-person with retired Navy SEAL, author, speaker, and podcaster, Jocko Willink. They discuss Jocko’s new speaking tour, the catharsis and upward momentum gained from genuine connection, the morality of a soldier, what a real leader is, and how to become one yourself.

Jocko Willink is a retired U.S. Navy SEAL officer, co-author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win, Dichotomy of Leadership, host of the top-rated Jocko Podcast, and co-founder of Echelon Front, where he serves as Chief Executive Officer, leadership instructor, speaker, and strategic advisor. Jocko spent 20 years in the SEAL Teams, starting as an enlisted SEAL and rising through the ranks to become a SEAL officer. As commander of SEAL Team Three’s Task Unit Bruiser during the battle of Ramadi, he orchestrated SEAL operations that helped the “Ready First” Brigade of the U.S. Army’s First Armored Division bring stability to the violent, war-torn city. Task Unit Bruiser became the most highly decorated Special Operations Unit of the Iraq War.

  1. Also if you ruing off information that’s only as good as the person you get it from.. so you basically blaming your actions on someone else by saying I didn’t have enough information why didn’t you make sure you did ? Simple he can’t take ownership

  2. Hey can you ask him what ptsd would look like if you have no means to work or you aren’t able to get help bc your parents failed you and after you served you find out that you didn’t get a certificate of naturalization and now you can’t work legally you been out for 10 years and got hurt at work you fell 3 stories and can’t continue your treatment bc of the paper you parents didn’t get how do you deal with this? And how do you keep from losing it ?

  3. Don't get me wrong I still think that a lot of information he has is relevant. But I do realize that it sometimes depends a lot what the definition is.

One example is that personally I have a lot of trouble with dog owners and this because I'm very disagreeable but also mainly because a lot of them don't abide by the law (keeping there dog on a leash) or dog etiquette. A lot of those negative experiences made me realize the importance of rules, but also the danger of people in groups.

Simple said and to not make a story to long. I don't think that no rules or enforcement is ethically right and sometimes I think that's what all this culture war is about.

  4. I know this has nothing to do with this tour update, but Jordan, can you please do a interview/podcast whatever feels like the right term for you to do it, but you HAVE to get Andrew Tate on a video with you. I’m curious to see what would happen

  6. Mr. Peterson I truly respect your point of view. Why have you not had a conversation with VODDIE BAUCHAM yet?????

  7. Great conversation!
It's sad that Willink is willing to accept the excuse of one Iraqi soldier who's willing to tolerate skimming in Iraqi troops, dismissing this immoral practice as "cultural" difference. There are cultural differences in how people handle conflicts but we're the same species. We all desire fair treatment. By tolerating this kind of corrupted use of power, US army is helping build a corrupted armed forces in Iraq. Can you imagine an army corrupted like this would have any moral strength to fight for all people in their country? Corruption in Afghanistan army was probably one of the major reasons why the army fell apart in an astonishingly short time after US army withdrew from Afghanistan. America invested a lot of tax payer money in military presence in these countries, but if you haven't found a way to let people in those regions open up their minds to new/more healthy ways to resolve conflicts in those regions, you probably accomplish little in changing the future of the people in those regions because in the end it's the locals who rule that land. If you want to make the lives of the people in those regions better, try open their minds to new way of viewing/handling corruptions in their life that might lead to more healthy dynamics of power and a more healthy society.

  8. I cannot wait to see Dr. Peterson in Davenport. I saw him last year in Des Moines and it was incredible.

  9. Firstly, I am a huge fan of JBP; He’s brilliant, insightful, and inspiring. That sid, reason Joe Rogan is the most successful podcaster is because he’s an amazing listener. I think Jordan has ADHD, he’s constantly interrupting and dominating the conversation. I recognize this in myself so “it takes one to know one” applies here. Mr. Peterson please let your guests talk and don’t immediately say what comes to mind however thoughtful and appropriate to the conversation. I struggle with this myself. When you have a mind that sees associations at the speed of light ( being hyperbolic ) it’s not easy to stop that flow and verbalizing it. Take a breath, man! 🤷‍♂💫😘
