  1. I see GW fans noting these boxes are a really good deal coming from GW… but they already have a pipeline established from their wallets to GW's bank account. The point of doing The Old World is to get new customers who don't already spend all their available money on their models and aren't trained to accept their pricing as a standard. They're just cannibalizing their own sales and doing nothing to bring in the people who let WFB die the first time, or the Total War customers who aren't dropping this kind of money to start in the hobby.

  2. I am a recent WH player, started in 2021. I am totally not interested in this for multiple reason but the most important one: You pay a premium for super old sculpts. Yes you get a good amount of mini's and yes there are some new sculpts amongst it as well BUT the bulk of what you buy is stuff that GW probably had lying around in their warehouse gathering dust.

Anyway those that do go for it: I do hope you have a blast on memory lane! 🙂 … I'll be painting my current backlog 😉

  3. 120 quid from darksphere for 76 citadel minitures, rulebook and all you need to play, im not sure how this is a disapointed. i was expected 200 quid. Also the books are all you need with exception to the odd little booklet. i think this is a great product.

  4. Fair play and good luck to anyone who drops cash on those skeleton horses. They're old enough to drink, old enough to have bought an affordable house and paid off the mortgage.

  5. I never for a moment believed GW would be redoing armies with all new plastic kits. Fantasy Battle was replaced by AOS, specifically because it wasn't profitable enough, compared to the other game systems. Old World was always going to be a "specialist" games range to use an outdated term. For me, I would never buy a box of those ancient skeleton models when there are so many excellent alternatives, but there are plenty of great old kits I will be buying. Who knows, though, you may see a completely new Kislev army – or something similar.

  6. no matter what they do they will never please everyone. i for one began with 5e and disliked the aesthetic/style of fantasy more with each new edition and outright hate aos. i still have my 5e/6e stuff and have no need/intention of buying anything new.

  7. I might get the Bretonian box, those miniatures still hold up pretty good. The Khemri ones are too old, and i would prefer getting Mantic (Empires of dust) miniatures instead. Look better and cheaper.

  8. i dont like the factions they have picked as i have a vampire counts army, which doesnt exist in this game and will never have vampire counts as its set before their rise

  9. Disappointed that these box sets offer some of the worst discounts GW have done clocking in around 20-25% from individual retail price. While it does include a rulebook it is still far less of a discount than we see for many army boxes for other systems, especially when the special and rare units are going to be quite expensive and the boxes only contain core.

  10. I like the separate faction starters. That’s about it. The only old world faction I care about is vampire counts and I already have what I would want from that except for a few characters. I could see maybe getting some of the new character models as a painting project but there’s no rush on that.
