I'm Irish and I've lived there my whole life, not once have I personally been involved with a crime and you'll see some people sitting outside a pub shouting at you but that's it, but when I moved to the USA within the first 6 months I was in a targeted mall shooting
I noticed that you said to stay away from Belfast when talking about Ireland but for reference, Belfast is in the unshaded area to the North of Ireland and is currently part of Northern Ireland and not the Republic of Ireland. Tbh a better example would have been Dublin city itself.

I think climate, temperature, weather and terrain also play a huge role in people's attitude, emotions and mindset.I think the harsher the climate and bad terrain (like desert areas) will have more violent people.
