Fun fact: During the 442nd's advance to rescue the Texans, 2 companies of the 3rd Battalion of the 442nd performed the only known instance of an American banzai charge.

"Nisei", "Ni" meaning 2, refers to 2nd generation immigrants, the children of the original immigrants, making them the fist generation that was born and raised in the united states, growing up with american culture. Also interesting to note is that there were some chinese, korean, philipino, etc. mixed into this Japanese unit, because to a white guy in the 1940's there isn't much of a difference and they snuck their way in.
