The biggest attack on Russian soil since the Second World War continues as waves of attack drones continue to fall on Russian oil refineries, military bases, and security services.
At least 60 drones were spotted over not less than seven Russian regions overnight on March 13, with at least seven more in a morning wave, Russia’s Defense Ministry announced.
A major oil refinery is ablaze in Ryazan, military bases were targeted in Voronezh, and an FSB building was damaged in Belgorod as multiple waves of drones continue to fall in regions across Russia.
A missile threat was also reported by the Governor of Kursk Oblast.
The waves of drones are a continuation of attacks on March 12 that saw Russia deal with at least 25 drones over nine regions that struck at least two oil facilities.
A Russian Air Force base in Buturlinovka and a military airfield in Voronezh were targeted in the mass wave of air strikes, an informed source told NV on March 13.
It is believed that the strike was organized by Ukraine’s security service with other representatives of the Defense Forces, the source told NV.
The consequences of the attack are still being clarified.
Part of the city of Voronezh was blocked, including the Southwest Market, after a drone attack, while another community in the region was left partly without electricity.
Some districts in Buturlinovka are experiencing power outages following a drone attack, local outlet ASTRA reported.
Major oil refineries in three Russian regions were the main targets of the overnight attack organized by the Ukraine, a source told NV.
“Our task is to deprive the enemy of resources,” he said.
Large oil refineries in Ryazan, Kstovo of Nizhy Novgorod Oblast, and Kirishi of Leningrad Oblast – all among Russia’s five largest – were targeted in the mass drone attack, he said.
The attacks are a continuation of a series of special operations against enemy refineries that the Ukrainian army had previously launched, the source said.
“We are systematically implementing a well-calculated strategy to reduce the economic potential of the Russian Federation,” the source added.
“Our task is to deprive the enemy of resources and reduce the flow of oil money and fuel that Russia directs straight to the war and the killing of our citizens.”
“This work will be continued,” pledged Andriy Yusov, a representative of Ukraine’s military intelligence.

Russia hit a Ukrainian port city using one of its more brutal tactics, a double-tap missile strike that kills emergency workers

Russia hit the Ukrainian port city of Odesa in a double-tap strike on Friday.
The attack involves drawing crowds to the site of an initial blast and then hitting the spot again.
At least 14 people were killed and 46 more injured in the bombardment, local authorities said.
Russia launched multiple missiles at the Ukrainian port city of Odesa on Friday, killing and wounding dozens of civilians, including emergency responders who were looking for survivors.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine said after an initial strike hit the city, its rescue workers quickly arrived at the site to search for wounded civilians, sort through the debris, and extinguish fires. While they were responding, Russia fired a second missile at their location.

At least 14 people were killed in the attack, including a paramedic and a rescue worker, Odesa Regional Governor Oleh Kiper said. Another 46 individuals were left injured, including seven emergency workers.

Civilian infrastructure, including private homes, were also left damaged by the attack, which Russia carried out using Iskander ballistic missiles fired from the occupied Crimean peninsula, according to Ukraine's Southern Defense Forces.

This type of missile bombardment is known as a double-tap strike, a brutal tactic that's designed to inflict maximum casualties by drawing out bystanders and rescue workers with an initial explosion, only to then target that same site in a follow-up attack.

Russia has carried out double-tap strikes in other Ukrainian cities throughout the war, but this deadly strategy is not necessarily new to Moscow's playbook, as it has been accused of conducting such attacks in Syria, killing civilians and rescue workers.

"It is absolutely ruthless to hit the same location twice in the space of minutes, causing the death and injury of people who had quickly come to help the survivors," a United Nations official said after a Russian double-tap strike in August 2023, calling it a "serious breach of international humanitarian law" that "violates any principle of humanity."

The attack is the latest on the strategic port city of Odesa. In early March, Russian drones killed a dozen people, and just a few days later, a missile hit the city while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was there during a visit with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

It also comes amid uncertainty over the future of Western military support for Ukraine, with Zelenskyy this week calling for more air-defense capabilities from Kyiv's partner nations, and growing concern over the possibility of a war between Russia and NATO.

"This cruel attack underscores that Russia will not stop its brazen aggression in Europe," US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink said on Friday. "We need to help Ukraine stop Russia now. There is not a moment to lose

  5. SLAVA UKRAINI!! Putin doesn't stand a chance against Ukraine and their reliable allies. Sweden, Poland and Finland arent going to mess around with anymore Soviet BS.
Now, if the US and Germany would actually do the right thing and support Ukraine, Putin's end would happen a lot quicker. Hungary is a lost cause and should be removed from NATO. Johnson needs to be removed as house speaker or what he really is, a traitor and Soviet supporter. He doesnt care about any 40 year old border immigration crisis in the south, he's only pushing Trumps narrative to suppress the current government and cause division and chaos. Putin's favotite propaganda puppets are doing their Z commrads proud.

  8. What this whole war is about in my opinion is that Russia is jealous because they are never accepted in NATO if they would just act normal like everybody else they could be part of NATO
