  1. Micheal & Prince we’re both amazing in their own rights. They were just different. For those saying it needed a guitar solo, not every song needs a guitar solo. It wasn’t that type of song. Even MJ had a different vision for the song. He ultimately needed to recognize that each performer had their own style & strengths as well as weaknesses. He was not happy, about it. But when you’re asking other people to contribute something, you have to let them do what they do. Not what you want them to do. I think Quincy knew it wouldn’t sound authentic if they recorded it Micheal’s way. The end result was that the song appealed to everyone. That was the point. Sell as many copies as possible to raise as much money as possible for charity. For those saying we had our own poverty issues in the U.S. that’s true, but Micheal was raising money to feed people who had literally nothing to eat except some type of portage made with grains. Something that gave them barely enough nutrition to survive. These were not people who were voluntarily homeless, in a lot of cases. Able bodied to work, they were not drug addicted by their own actions, & did not qualify for food stamps & cable tv!! His point was these children & their families were literally starving to death!! He knew that those people had no hope & no other choices! Prince could have helped the people in the U.S. if he wanted to, but he didn’t. He probably thought about it, but probably couldn’t get any collaborators for the project. Sometimes being an “Island” is not the best thing for relationships & networking. Micheal was a great example of a person who drew people together with a common goal. Prince was better at being an independent artist & performer. They were just different people. They both had been raised as “Jehovah Witnesses”. I find that fact very interesting.

  4. It's just amazing how GROWN-UPS, "supposedly," are sitting up debating about who's better. We all have our own personal preference, so therefore idc who sold what ,who stared what, who's better at performing, or who's the overall better person. You can type until your hands get arthritis in them. At the end of all that we all have our very own preference. Yes i prefer Michael, but not everyone's a fan , just as well as some love prince more, who also everyone's not a fan of. GROW-UP, RESPECT OTHERS FEED BACK AND OPINIONS.

  5. Prince kept his integrity intact by saying no. This entire production was just one giant flex by all these artists saying they’re “in the club” to be asked to do this. But the project was a complete joke. All these multi-millionaire people singing about giving to Africa…and they were paid to do this. It’s just another example of the hypocrisy of Hollywood. It’s like The Rock and Oprah begging people to give money today.

  6. For anyone wondering why Madonna wasn’t on the recording, it was because they thought she couldn’t sing and it broke her heart. They dissed her the night before the recording.

For those saying why is everyone hating on Prince and not Madonna, was because Madonna didn’t show up because she, Nile Rodger’s and Quincy Jones overheard the producers bashing her singing voice. So she wasn’t invited for the final recording.

Meanwhile Prince didn’t show up because he didn’t want to be in the same room as MJ unless he had a guitar solo lol.

  7. We are the world was for a good cause, but to be totally honest it was trash. And Prince, with the caliber talent he had would never be a part of such a mediocre production. The outtakes alone would make anyone with musical talent cringe.

  8. Being a teenager in the 80s, I just couldn't stand Prince's ego. "When Doves Cry" my favorite Prince song…a few of friends and I would argued with other friends who Prince fans about his ego. I just couldn't stand his ego. Like him at the end of the day.

  9. Prince didn’t have a problem with Michael, they loved each other. Respected one another. Quincy Jones was the problem 😂

  10. “Michael Jackson’s album was only called Bad because there wasn’t enough room on the sleeve for Pathetic.”

  11. Prince should've been there, Madonna, Janet and Whitney too! Nelson missed quite a few culturally significant moments with these kinda shenanigans! 🎸

  12. Prince made a song for the USA for Africa Album.
Charity is voluntary. After all the time past it is known that most of the food distributed was lost because of bad management, literally airplanes dropped the food from air and there was no way to make sure the food got to the people that needed most.

  13. Oh please stopped that, Prince won many Grammies that night, it was his night !
He wanted to party with his crew. Period !

  14. That explains! I always wondered why no Prince and Madonna in that song and they were so big in that era. I want to see a documentary on the making of that song/video. One of the greatest

  15. There was no rivalry. Prince was a better musician, MJ was better at everything else! Record sales prove they were not in the same league…
