I suppose by fishing world they meant that of us catching fish, not the lives of the fish.
Used in conjunction with a kayak the range would be amazing. You could really use this scout out new areas. Even is the water is dark the sonar feature could be used to give the angler a clear picture of what the contour of the bottom looks like.

Guys this looks ridiculously awesome…but… nearly $2000 is alot of moola without some more details on the techs. I have one in the basket on your website for $1899 but i cant commit without knowing more.
I would be looking at this for fishing in freshwater in Europe. The ability to drop a boated hook could revolutionise what we do. I really need to know more about the bait dropper, to see if it works with the fishing arrangement used by european anglers (not a lure but baited hook and say 3oz weight…will the dropper hold/grip 3oz) . A video of the dropper would be cool to see.
A concern is the potential to tether the drone around an underwater snag, is there any emergency release function for the drone to release the wifi lead and float to surface, kinda like a return home on a dji or flying drone? $1900 is alot of drone to leave snagged up under water.
On which note, the website states 70m cable, can this be reduced or used at a length to suit? For freshwater fishing 10m maybe 15 would be enough, anymore and its just increasing the risk potential for for getting hooked up on something you don't want to.
Last thing, can we see some images of the wifi bouy, cant see any on the website either.

Sorry to say, that even though it is a "COOL" toy, real fishers won't buy it. You are killing the essence of fishing.
You could develop "skinning" and an "auto-grilling" modules.
