After both sides edged thrillers in the Rugby World Cup 2023 quarter-finals, both South Africa and England met in the semi-final at the Stade de France in Paris. The Springboks were heavy favourites in what was a repeat of the Rugby World Cup final from 2019 but England and Owen Farrell came out the blocks firing. However, South Africa slowly fought back and eventually Handré Pollard stole the game by a single point at the end of the match! Look at 5:24. Owen Farrell (the captain by the way) being an arsehole for 20 seconds, and then has the audacity to argue with the ref. Costing his team 3 points and, in the end, the game. (By the way, he was also the one who missed the tackle on Cheslin Kolbe in the WC 2019 final). This is just one of his many tantrums. Shameful.

We really should have won this match. One of 3 or 4 big misses in English sports history.
I really hate saying this but the English gave it their all man.
Watch how Willie le Roux supports the mentality of the Springboks off the ball… No-one ever mentions it, but when we won that scrum for Pollard's penalty, he lifted the players off the ground and hyped everyone up again.

Loved this match and IMO the closest the Springboks were pushed in the whole tournament. Not every game needs to have pretty tries, sometimes a tough defensive clash is just as gripping.
When I feel down I just watch this again and realise I will never feel as down as the England team did that night. 😂
England played so well this game. They really did bring it.
Let's see if they can continue, or if they'll be the normal one hit wonders, like they have been since winning the 2003 final.
