I kinda like the idea of quests bringing you farther distances. Just like vanilla wow, quests are made in the sense that the questgiver can't do it himself. So it's either kill something he/she can't, or it's travel far away to deliver a message he/she can't. It promotes exploring, and also shows you just how big this world is. Sure for a speedleveler it's horrible, but most MMO's (as you should know) are about the journey, not the destination.
Man all that running is bad quest design. Did Amazon do any reaserch for quest design cause it looks horrible. I'm not planning on playinge New World but if I was considering it this would be one of the factors that would discourge me from playing it.

its funny how the complaints about multiple mmorpgs are targeted at inconveniences when vanilla WoW has these (i.e. quests that make you run across multiple continents and the XP isnt exactly good either) and we all (including peon) love it
What I've got from watching this series is New World is basically Runescape with pretty graphics and shitty quest design – along with (from JSH's videos) intern-level programming.

yea I refunded after 6hours because of boring quests, boring zones and literally no good music to enjoy the game.. better stick with WoW or Lineage

on my server, there arent any town quests anymore. none of the companies that own the towns put any up. its seriously stupid that players are in control of a major aspect of questing

People are playing this because there's nothing else 'new'. if there was anything else though everyone would be skipping this experience in a heartbeat. Steam charts show the playerbase hangs around 300k now lol.
