It’s lonely at the top. Magnus lost one game (to MVL) in the blitz. Lost no games in rapid. Won both titles and still lost rapid and blitz rating points for the entire tournament.
But that’s why he’s the STOAT.
3:35 In this kind of position the black king should stay in the middle. It is clear that either the queen side or the king side is safe. I would have played h5 and if Nxg5 then h4 and I would take the bishop.
I'm over simplifying it when I say it always seems like Magnus studies concepts while others memorize theory. Incredible how many wins he gets in a similar fashion. Personally, I'm not playing a 500 year old opening against him. 🙂

Dubov has himself to blame. There are myriad ways to draw a chess game and himself & Nepo chose the walliest way, ending up with 0 points and probably missing out on the 1st place.
