What makes this song amazing is that it was written over 40 years ago, yet is even more pertinent today than it was then. People are more distracted than ever, looking to hide their frustrations from a world that slowly grinds you down because our indoctrination — I mean education — systems aren't teaching people how to find meaning and purpose in their lives.
Inflation also steals our time so that as parents, we have less and less time to spend with our children and teach them things that we never learned, like meaning and purpose. Without those things, one tends to look for whatever quick hit of dopamine they can find: phone time, video games, alcohol, cigarettes, porn, drugs, violence… vices.
And each generation, the cycle continues and gets worse. It will get better of course, but as America continues it's spiral of societal decay and drags the rest of the world down with it because our "almighty" dollar is the world's reserve currency, it's going to get a lot worse first.
Find a way to get out of the rat race, folks. Look into Bitcoin and homeschooling, and teach your kids how to do the same. It is the only way to fix a mad world.
