If a 3-4 member household makes 8-9 lacs per annum in tire 2 and 3 city then they are considered as affluent but not in tire 1 city.
If a household more then 5 members makes 8-9 lacs then they are not considered as affluent.
Also we should consider their forefathers property and house etc.
It is very difficult to decide whether someone is affluent or not.

I believe that Goldman Sachs is trying to say 10,000$ per person of a family because thatβs what is considered thΓ© average international standard of living cost.
To be honest, I am earning 12 lakh per annum, as an individual, but the 8 lakh per annum is not sufficient for to live luxury life, at least you should earn 20lakh per annum so that you will be fulfilled your dreams

I am single and I earn little more than this. However, that doesn't give me a freedom to buy anything and everything that comes to my mind. I still consider myself as middle-class. Affluent class as per my understanding are the ones who don't wait for month end salary for next month's financial expenses. High Income country wo hote hain jinki per capita income $12000 hoti hai. Is liye $ 12000 per capita waale Indians ko affluent maana jaana chaahiye. Agar India mein 10 crore aise log hain, to iska matlab hua India mein bhi ek 10 crore population ka High Income nation hai.
