If the World Runs Out of Oil, This Will Happen Next

World

You hear about it in the news, it dominates conversation among certain circles, and it seems like the whole world revolves around it. Yep, I’m talking about oil, and not the cooking kind! So have you ever wondered what would happen if we ran out of this crucial resource? It’s no pretty picture, trust me!

SUMMARY:
– If you use lipstick, you should know that a lot of them contain petroleum in the form of paraffin wax. It makes lipstick hold its shape and helps you apply this beauty product smoothly.
– Perfumes and deodorants, contact lenses, fishing lures – you’re literally surrounded by common objects made from oil.
– Normally, most countries have special reserves with enough oil to keep things running for at least a couple months.
– You can safely assume that, from Day 1, oil and gas prices would literally skyrocket.
– After several weeks (if not days), all private transport would stop running. Drivers who normally commute long distances would have problems getting to work.
– One of the worst things about the absence of oil would be health risks for tons of hospital patients. The truth is that medicine relies on oil probably a bit too much nowadays.
– Another serious problem would be connected with food supply, especially in big cities.
– In the northern regions, people would start chopping down forests to get at least some source of energy and not freeze in the winter.
– Oil is a serious source of pollution, and in the US alone, more than 9 million gallons of this stuff have spilled from pipelines since 2010.
– With the absence of oil, you, as well as the environment, are likely to become a bit healthier.
– There’s always nuclear power. In fact, nuclear power reactors are already pretty common in a lot of countries.
– There’s also wind and solar power. The supporters of using these alternatives are sure that they don’t have any adverse effects on the environment.

  1. If there was no energy to run paper mills and lumber mills chopping wood wouldn’t be an increase in consumption

  2. We will never run out of oil because of Supply and Demand. When oil becomes more scarce, it becomes more expensive. The higher price incentivizes people to consume less oil and seek substitutes, or find new reserves of oil that were previously unknown or unprofitable. At some point, oil will have gotten so expensive, we don't wanna touch it and by then, we will have already substituted something else.

  3. PLEASE. Let's CHANGE our lifestyles. No one needs to grow all of their food. You can trade with neighbors who grow different foods. We can employ greenhouses for some access to tropical fare.

Also, we can become makers again: seamstresses, metalsmiths, everything. What a creative, productive people we'd become all over again. Everyone would learn to d many things around self-sufficiency.

  4. I'm pretty sure we need oil to make wind turbines and solar panels and any other form of power producing equipment, including what's need to build and maintain a nuclear power station, think plastic, rubber, electronics. And how will we power the machinery used for drilling and mining for example and electric cars, most of these require large amounts of products made with oil including these wonderful batteries, also communications, mobile phones and just about any other electronic device, we are going to be totally stuffed really when oil runs out, we will have to go back to being cave men and hunters. We can't power everything with electricity and we can't make electric equipment or batteries without oil.

  5. People lack creativity. We were for the longest time, a world without USING oil. We use to think that cellphones were impossible but we'll have to ditch those or make them organic, without plastics if we want to get off oil we have to think about the production of everything and how much materials are used. This is one reason why I submitted my boombox to the USPTO which I will see how much they care or not. But ultimately, even this I'd prefer to make it out of readily available organic casing/shell.

  6. You forgot to mention without oil, there will be no asphalt to pave the roads. So all paved roads will become dirt roads and if not enough traffic to keep the weeds down, they will soon be covered by weeds then shrubs then trees.

  7. We take for granted the use of oil. Take it away and a lot of stuff we use will cease to be made. We’ve become dependent upon it! You all better get horses cause your going to need them. Come 2030 it will be the collapse of regular mobility and Space Travel.
