  1. I've worked on the "Allure of the Sea" a few years ago. It was by far the worst working experience of my life. I was working 7 days a week without a day off, then I had to do trainings, security Drills etc. On top of that. Most people don't even imagine what is going on in terms of workers exploitation behind the scenes of those huge floating toilets.

  2. Never talk about sigaretts? Pollution made by sigaretts is 10 times more than all the cars in the world, and cause a lot of metabolic diseas too. How now, only cruise ships are the problem? Use your brain guys. The problem is at 360°.

  3. Do your research. Cruise ships have been reducing carbon emissions by 90% with water scrubbing technology. Sewage and waste is ALWAYS TREATED before being dumped. Plus, sewage is only able to be dumped when the ship is more than 40KM away from any land source.

  4. In the age when we start to see the very alarming effects of climate change, I can't fathom why those ships and the cruising industry as a whole are still a thing. Why are they even LEGAL ?!??

  5. cruises are also damaging to local economies in places like the caribbean. you have cruise companies buying entire islands and pushing out local businesses while giving the locals no choice but to be employed by the cruise company since they have a monopoly. every dollar spent on the cruise or at cruise-owned sites is a dollar not going into the local economy. tourism, without giving anything in return.
it is far more sustainable to take a normal vacation to these countries, stay at a hotel, eat at local restaurants, etc.

  6. They should switch to nuclear power like submarines and aircraft carriers did. Problem solved, but no those morons fear nuclear energy because of Chernobyl and would rather use disgusting and toxic heavy fuels that are much worse than nuclear power.

  7. Just went on my first cruise. It was all gross fat people eating and eating and drinking and acting stupid. Definatly a glutinous activity. It wasn't that great. Also it smelled like shit sometimes. My gf said it's bc they are dumping waste in the ocean. I don't enjoy smelling other peoples waste. Lol

  8. I did a little research and the best I can say so far there are some discretion in accuracy of the video.

“The Harmony of the Seas is powered by four 12-cylinder Wärtsilä 46F engines and two 16-cylinder Wärtsilä 46F engines, featuring best-in-class fuel economy, and outstanding power-to-“

That took me several minutes to find on google. So the clam about Harmony of the sea engine was a lie.

And you cruse ship haters come at me bro 😎

  9. The corporations don't want an asset loss, but it's okay to lose the planet..Free Trade cranked up the pollution, just a deadly fact. Some companies moved overseas because they have less restrictions. Then send it on the ship..

  10. In response to the people asking if container ships are just as bad: cruises carry a lot more people as well as perishable goods, like food, toilet paper, soap etc. They produce more waste that they can dump into the seas and upset the nutrient balance in the waters.
Container ships also stop at industrial ports, while Cruises have beautiful destinations as goals, which are often beautiful because of the surrounding ecosystems. Industrial ports can get build with environment in mind, for example at a place that is known not to have a fragile ecosystem or the ports are so old, that the systems have adapted to shiptraffic. Cruise tourism will often destroy existing flourishing systems, which can negatively affect surrounding systems as well.
Overall, Cruises are worse, not only because they are pointless, but also because of their style of travel.

  11. These climate and environmentalist are also against nuclear power. If the environmentalist really wanted to solve this they should push for nuclear power ships. We need to invest in nuclear research. I imagine Elon Musk will work on it but for now he has a lot of spinning plates. Then again he has lots of employees and he could work with other companies to help this effort. Business are in the business to make a profit, I imagine they will find a way to to pollute less or not at all and spend less on fuel.

  12. This is a joke and misinformation. Cruise ships make up a small percent of equal sized ships and the vast majority of their energy is pushing the boat like any other ocean going vessel. It’s capitalism and people having fun, there for blame the cruise ship industry.

  13. What a load of rubbish! I am sick and tired of organizations concentrating on one heads that don't exist in their hundreds of millions! YOU DON'T SEE THESE SHIPS EXISTING IN THEIR HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS ALL OVER THE PLANET DO YOU! HOW MANY OF THESE SHIPS EXIST IN THE WORLD? ONLY A BLOOMIN FEW!!! LISTEN, IF YOU TAKE AWAY ONE BILLION MOTOR VEHICLES AND ALL THE WORLD'S POWER STATIONS, AND KEEP THESE SHIPS CRUISING ALL ALONE ALL OVER THE WORLD, CO2 EMISSIONS WILL BE CLOSE TO ZERO!!! THE TROUBLE IS, NOBODY WANTS TO KNOW ABOUT THE ENERGY BUDGET OF DEATH — THE BURNING OF OVER SEVEN BILLION METRIC TONNES OF FOSSIL FUELS PER YEAR, AND THE DESTRUCTION OF JUST OVER NINE BILLION TREES PER YEAR!!! OVER 700 BILLION TREES HAVE BEEN CUT DOWN SINCE CIVILIZATION STARTED!!!!

  14. Why doesnt anyone consider nuclear-steam power. You can encase it in 3 ft thick steal, put it in a cruise ship, and not worry about a single gram of sulfur, co2 or soot for about 10 years. Then pay a considerable amount of money, BUT EVERY 10 YEARS, even if its 10 million dollars per 10 years, witch it isnt, its much less, million dollars per year in fuel for a cruiser isnt that bad. Now imagine every single big boat, cargo boat, boat taxi, cruise ship, ocean liner switched to nuclear power.

  15. This is such bs. Cruise ships account for 1% of maritime traffic. Cruise ships are quantumly greener than even 5 years ago. Its like saying the cars of the 70's are like the ones of today. Cruise ships are cleaner than most of the ports we stop at.

    Balas
  16. I think the analysis of cruise ships is very incomplete. Cars provide only one thing: transportation. Cruise ships use the fuel they're burning to provide:
    *transportation
    *entertainment (audio/video, lighting, etc.)
    *food storage, preparation, and disposal
*sanitation services (like pumping and heating water, cleaning water, and storing and servicing waste)
    *restaurants, bars, shops, casinos, etc.
    *living spaces and their maintenance
    *outdoor and indoor gaming areas
*and probably a bunch more stuff

A cruise ship is like a whole city. If you're going to compare, then compare properly. Compare the environmental costs of going on a cruise vs doing all the stuff you would have done on that cruise elsewhere (such as if you went on a road trip to a theme park and other places). Of course, cruise ships could be more responsible about dumping waste and their emissions, but just saying "cruise ships consume more power than cars" is a ridiculously ineffective and poorly thought out argument.
