I like him, I think hes kind of another Justin Steele really……same velo, same kind of breaking ball, they both have that "magic" high-rpm cut-ride fastball all the analytics dorks love cause batters just dont square it up well. Got the big sweeping breaking ball just like Justin. He just uses the change-up/splitter thing and Justin doesn't.
That said, he is a replacement for Marcus Stroman. Does not quite fix the problem that the Cubs need a true power-armed ace to strike out a ton of guys and match up with playoff teams………but he looks like a good pitcher Im happy to see what Shota can do! I think 14-10 with a 3.42 ERA or something like that would be awesome.

Been a follower of NPB since 2007 and I still don't get the hype with this guy. For all the times I've seen him pitch for DeNA, he's been mid at best. But he did cash in his WBC performance though so good for him!
