Around The World In 7 Diseases

World

Check out the new 50-minute Crash Course on human responses to tuberculosis:

Have you ever wondered about what stops a disease from going global? Well pack your bags, because we’re taking a world tour to visit seven of the most regional diseases out there, from Guinea worm to an Australian form of rabies, to learn just what it is about them that keeps them from wandering off. For some reason, this wasn’t a very popular package from the travel agent.

  1. OK, I think this is one of those times where ignorance is bliss.

I don't need to know about these rare diseases – now I know about some of them (I stopped after Australia, where I live), I will be constantly worrying about catching it!

I also plan on travelling to the USA in the future… So thanks for putting this worry in my mind… 😖

  2. "Cla cla cla Climate Change… Ogga booga booo…. Give us money! " ~ Every government in the world. Blows my mind how little critical thinking people who consider themselves scientist or science enthusiast do.

  3. To be fair to the valley fever, close to half of washington is high altitude desert, so its pretty dry and warm during the summer.

  4. My best friend's sister was one of those unfortunate souls who had variant CJD. As a result, her family to this day, still cannot donate blood due to being related to someone who had it

  5. I love how whenever there is a graphic depicting something happening across the world that when that 'thing' gets to Australia it pops up or occurs in places where people aren't.
A Virus appears in the Great Australian Bight, Nuclear war, Alice Springs is blown up. ☺️

  6. Humans are the real diseases and viruses of Earth while diseases and viruses are Earth’s immune system.

  7. Just a quick plug for This Podcast Will Kill You. They’ve done an episode on almost every single one of these diseases.

  8. I'm frustrated that no where was this wonderful presenter introduced by name. Tried google, I know this isn't Caitlin. Even tried using the name of the video. She's definitely not Hank, even with Chemo Curls he doesn't look like this. Well…whoever she is, I like her humor. ❤ Wait…end credits? Noooooooo….!

  9. I like bats! They were the subject of my graduate studies.

It's not good to overdue the warnings for any life forms. It causes unnecessary angst among the general public.

But it is good to respect any life form — especially if you are not familiar with it — this include any life forms that may be from another heavenly body.
