  1. Impressive performance he might live in the US and be an American Citizenship but as soon as I read his last name I knew he has the Slavic blood in his veins , no pure American 😊

  2. I hope USFS takes care of Ilia and markets him better because they clearly dropped the ball in the past when they marketed Nathan Chen to the public. They have another chance to grow figure skating in the US through Ilia. If figure skating gains more popularity, then Ilia and all the other American skaters would have so many opportunities with sponsorships/brand deals – and we all know figure skating is a crazy expensive sport, so these sponsorships and deals would help them tremendously. I want to see them in commercials, cereal boxes, magazines, Netflix specials.. etc.

  3. Just such a pitty he is so arrogant😢 Look at Nathan Chen, he never became something else, did nt get an attitude or thought he is beter than other people. All the years after his first won, he has ever been the same.

  4. One of the most mesmerising spectacles I've ever seen. Pure brilliance, beyond human artistry, skill and perfectionism. I don't know much about skating (other than I loved Torville and Dean as a child) but wow, just WOW! The unimaginable hard work, determination and perseverance this must have taken is so inspirational.
    Huge congratulations from England 🎉❤

  5. I hope GMA does an interview with Ilia and his parents who are his coaches. It's so amazing how they were able to accomplish this WR super inspired and breathtaking FS as a family. Totally agree! Ilia did a masterclass in technique and made it look effortless!! Sad that some fans are nitpicking about the edges, spins and speed. He's only 19yo so he'll just got better in everything in time because he's very driven on improving every aspect of his skating. He shoots for the stars. Keep up the good fight Ilia and God bless! Praying you're able to stay healthy, strong and humble. 😃🙏❤❤❤

  6. Lazy reporting in her introduction. Ilia, as awesome as he was, did not reach the "highest score in history". That record is still held by Nathan Chen at 335.30. Ilia achieved the highest score for a long program (227.79, not the total score. He also set the second highest total score at 333.76. Ilia will probably take the other records next season, but he hasn't yet.

  7. Just so everyone understands who doesn’t follow figure skating:

What he did technically is amazing and unprecedented.

However, Ilia is a young skater and has struggled with the components or as most would say presentation in the world of the figure skating.

Last year when he won the bronze medal at worlds, he was chatting on his social media with a male friend his age who asked about his sexuality and said the following about his frustration with his components journey:

“Bro, you know, let’s be honest, I can’t be straight anymore because I need those (artistic) component scores up, you know. I gotta say that I’m not straight, that way my components are gonna go up.”

He apologized for his comments and chocked his behavior as “teenage” fashion.

There is a huge problem in figure skating in re: the dynamics of gender + sexuality and how it is judged in this sport.

This needs to be noted so that people understand what he did was technically amazing, but this is still a child who has a lot of growing to do still.

UPDATE: Since I am getting trolled by people who do not believe in factual information, here is a link to the story in May 2023:

  8. The era of "who has the least number of falls" in men's figure skating is history. We have entered the era of the impossible athletic feats.

  9. He is beyond a doubt a Quad God! 🤴🏻🥇Such a golden performance of his lifetime. 🙏🏼 I am sure there will be more of this in the future but for now let’s enjoy and celebrate his golden moment. I couldn’t be more proud of him. Congratulations to Ilia and his family for a job very well done! 🔥🔥🔥🙌🏼👏🏼😍❤️
