15 Biggest Spiders In The World

World

A spider just needs to be a spider to scare the living daylights out of most people. But what if the same spider is gigantic in size? How much would that scare you? Would you run for the hills or would just take it in as a pet? Believe it or not, many people have “big” pet spiders, but I am certainly not one of them. I suggest you drink some of that anti-venom potion you have stored next to your cornflakes and join us as we countdown 15 Biggest Spiders in the World.

Grammstola Anthracene
The Grammostola Anthracina is a species of Tarantula. Females are larger than males and vary in size between 7-9 inches, and males have a smaller body with long legs. Some species have jet black coloration, while some sport brown, grey, and sometimes dual colorations. Many species have pink or orange hairs. These spiders usually have a hairy body. Around 500 eggs are laid in a sac by female spiders. The number of eggs depends on each species.

Some spiders go through molting phases before adulthood. These tarantula spiders do not make any kind of webs, other than the sperm web that is used for reproduction. These spiders hold mild venom that is not usually fatal for humans, but medical assistance should always be availed, in case of a spider bite. This species is considered a good pet. Since these spiders do not like to stay in dry places, if their cage gets wet, they will risk their lives and stand on the “tiptoe” condition as long as they can to avoid contact with the damp surface.

The Chaco Golden-Knee –
The Chaco Golden is a New World Terrestrial tarantula that is endemic to the sub-tropical nation of Paraguay. This spider can grow to an adult size of around 7-9” with males living about 6 or 7 years while females can live 20-25 years. This species has a medium growth rate and while it is not the slowest grower, if you get your golden knee as a small sling, it may be years before you see the true adult coloration. Being a new world tarantula, it does not have medically significant venom but does possess urticating’s hairs.

This species has a reputation of being very docile and rarely kicking hairs but bear in mind temperament can differ between specimens and even between molts of the same specimen. This tarantula is an opportunistic burrower, but the older they get, the less they seem to burrow and the more they tend to just move substrate around their enclosure.
