More skate videos & interviews from Tokyo:

After a jammed-pack year of action, the street skateboarding season will head towards its conclusion with the World Skateboarding Tour: Street World Championships 2023 in Toyko, Japan. Given the contest is doubling up as a World Championship, the points on offer in Tokyo will be worth more than at a typical tour stop, adding an extra dash of excitement to proceedings.

Out to defend her title in the women’s event will be Brazil’s Rayssa Leal, who recently claimed victory at Street League Skateboarding’s Super Crown in Sao Paulo, while in the men’s division, a new champion will be crowned with Aurelien Giraud withdrawing from the contest for personal reasons.

Among those expected to compete will be Nyjah Huston, who holds an impressive perfect record at the World Skate events he has attended, reigning Olympic champions Nishiya Momiji and Horigome Yuto, and Australian teen star Chloe Covell.

  1. Kairi is becoming one of my favorite skaters from this generation. Zero was smart to pick him up, that is crucial exposure that Zero needs

  2. Editors: Tough to see flip tricks on the quarterpipes when the camera angle is from back on the deck. Also, when all slo-mo replays are super zoomed on the feet, you can't see the skater's body and, therefore, no sense of the style in the trick.

  3. Looks like Ginwoo got robbed a few times on his scores. Seems they dock him a bit for his size and age. Maybe style but that’s very subjective. He had some of the top technical tricks and was crazy consistent. But Sora definitely deserved to win. The US and Brazil arent able to keep up with Japan.

  4. Ginwoo got robbed. Do they dock him points for being little? I used to think maybe he did too many of the same type of tricks, but so do others.

His second run and I don’t know what more someone could have done and he didn’t get 90.

Maybe they want more switch tricks? Or more pop? They shouldn’t dock him cuz he’s little. He’s amazing.

  8. Why the SCORING for that Australian skater girl is always higher then it should be even when she does the same trick 2x

  11. What are these stretched out, compressed 1080 frames? Rumble 1080 quality street league competitions look way better.

  12. As a male in my mid 40's who used to skate in the 90's, I have to say watching these young women do things I could never dream of on a skateboard is the most incredible and humbling thing to experience. Hats off to these young skaters leading the next gen of skateboarding!
